  City construction and management entered a new stage. A new general layout of the whole city and the planning of the new eastern urban district, combination of Yuyao and Cixi have been finished successively. It has been carried out to develop the new eastern urban district. By the end of 2005, we have invested 2.18 billion Yuan into the project, finished 6.9 kilometers of roads, built up an area of 360000 m2 dwelling houses, brought in contracted investment US$ 370 million, and US$ 27.62 million has been fully funded. And the construction of main districts as Yinzhou new urban district, Zhenhai new urban district, Beilun new urban district and Dongqian Lake Tourism & Leisure area made considerable headway. More efforts are being made to construct basic facilities, and the Project of Five-bridge and Four-sea inside the urban area has been started. the Hangzhou Gulf Bridge, the longest oversea bridge in the world and its linking road to the south shore are under construction successfully. Items of Zhilan Bridge and the Sun Lake Park have been completed successively. Construction of the western part of expressway around the city has started. In the year of 2005, a volume of 6.64 billion Yuan RMB was invested to construct environmental and public facilities. The living space per capita for urban residents is 18.4 m2. In the last year, 10,000 m2 non-suit houses were dismantled, and 500,000 m2 economical houses were set up. And right now, 83% urban households have realized the standard of one suit per household and one room per capita. While, living space per capita for rural residents is 50.4 m2.
